Stroke of Midnight - Red Garnier
I just finished reading Stroke of Midnight by Red Garnier. This engrossing tale of lust and healing stars Elena Wolverton, the younger sister and victim of a debilitating car crash. Together with her sister, Vivian, they trek to the family’s Aspen retreat in the hopes that Elena, and the family, will find rest. When Vivan invites along the enticing Porter Rowe, one of her lovers, things heat up for all three.
Garnier creates an interesting cast of characters that keeps you turning the pages until the end. Elena manages to be vulnerable without pathetic; a nice change of pace. Vivian is vicious, but remains an asset to Elena; a true sister-to-sister relationship. Best of all, Porter Rowe quickly climbs to the top of any female reader’s memorable heroes list with his delicious and honest dialogue.
This delightful piece was released in October of 2007, which makes me a bit late in reviewing it, but its originality can’t be praised enough, no matter how many reviews are out there. This is the first book of Garnier’s that I’ve read, but it will definitely not be the last!
