When I started researching, I found out that a deal has been made for him to star in a movie version of the classic Dark Shadows.

Of course, after watching so many of his movies, like Sweeny Todd, I realized that he definitely had a dark side. As it turns out, Depp is a vampire junkie on some level...or at least where Dark Shadows is concerned. In Variety, I found that "Depp has said in interviews that he has always been obsessed with 'Dark Shadows' and had, as a child, wanted to be Barnabas Collins, the vampire patriarch of the series."

Well, welcome to my list of favorite actors, Depp. The character Jack Sparrow is one of my favorites, but somehow knowing that we share an interest in Dark Shadows makes me like the actor even more. Here's to hoping that the vampire role is NOT shown as a dorky fanged freak. I have no doubt that Depp could pull it off, but I'm not sure about the rest of the movie crew. Either way, I'll be first in line to see this movie when it hits the theater! And, somehow I see a new vampire character in one of my books who looks similar to Johnny Depp in the near future.Angelahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07162939359152716512noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7137247175397253778.post-37073395394189159972008-06-20T12:03:00.003-05:002008-06-20T12:07:15.687-05:00Ghost HuntingI know this is probably a silly thing to some. My writing sisters and brothers will understand, though.I've made a contact who has the fascinating hobby.
She is a paranormal investigator who is part of a larger group with a well known television show. When she agreed to be my consultant on an upcoming book series, I literally did the Snoopy dance at my desk. I love the work they do, but I'm too chicken to do it myself. I've had experiences with malevolent spirits and I want nothing to do with them again. If that means staying completely away from paranormal investigation, that's fine by me. However, I'm writing a story about a girl that is a ghost hunter. So, I have to know something about it. Right?
Anyway, I won't give out the details because I think that would be kind of rude at this point. I just had to blog about it.Angelahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07162939359152716512noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7137247175397253778.post-45323654216359294632008-06-10T10:38:00.003-05:002008-06-10T10:41:50.503-05:00Contest Winners!
Contest Winners!

May's "Name Angela's Character" Contest

We had a great response on this contest, and I hope to do more in the near future. I Love You, Too!I'm a sucker for a man with a sense of humor and a Scottish accent. In what may be my new favorite movie, the endearing Gerry, played by Gerard Butler, does this amazing, light hearted strip tease for his wife, Holly. (see clip at this link)

http://www.imdb.com/video/screenplay/vi2056978713/

This isn't a new concept, I know, but it was still the perfect beginning to the movie, P.S. I Love You, which was the best romantic movie I've seen since The Notebook. The character Gerry won my heart in two scenes flat. I hope I can create characters this great!

Plus, the friends remind me of my two best friends. Lisa Kudrow and Gina Gershon were great. In fact, the character Holly, played by Hilary Swank, was someone I can completely relate to on many levels. I was engrossed in the movie. Honestly, I don't cry at movies often, but this one made me cry and laugh—and then cry while laughing, which I wasn't exactly sure was possible until last night.

I don't want to give anything away, so I'll shut up soon. I just really can't say enough great things about it. If you're into romantic comedies, you can't miss this one! It's going in my video library.Angelahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07162939359152716512noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7137247175397253778.post-1513402181586142982008-05-07T21:01:00.001-05:002008-05-07T21:05:26.076-05:00CataNetworks Appearance
Hi all,
I’m attending the party tomorrow.
CataNetworks DELURKING
Thursday, May 8th
from 10 until 10 EST
and the loop link is: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/CataNetwork-Readers/
Tomorrow I’ll be posting excerpts, giving away prizes, and more.
Hope to see you there!
Angie
Angelahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07162939359152716512noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7137247175397253778.post-18732042504472682272008-05-01T19:00:00.002-05:002008-05-01T19:04:33.058-05:00May's "Name Angela's Character" Contest To enter, name Angela's newest character. This engrossing tale of lust and healing stars Elena Wolverton, the younger sister and victim of a debilitating car crash. Together with her sister, Vivian, they trek to the family’s Aspen retreat in the hopes that Elena, and the family, will find rest. When Vivan invites along the enticing Porter Rowe, one of her lovers, things heat up for all three.

Garnier creates an interesting cast of characters that keeps you turning the pages until the end. Elena manages to be vulnerable without pathetic; a nice change of pace. Vivian is vicious, but remains an asset to Elena; a true sister-to-sister relationship. Best of all, Porter Rowe quickly climbs to the top of any female reader’s memorable heroes list with his delicious and honest dialogue.

This delightful piece was released in October of 2007, which makes me a bit late in reviewing it, but its originality can’t be praised enough, no matter how many reviews are out there. This is the first book of Garnier’s that I’ve read, but it will definitely not be the last!
Grab your copy today from Liquid Silver Books.
Angelahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07162939359152716512noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7137247175397253778.post-42660877470754847932008-02-09T15:52:00.000-06:002008-02-09T15:55:29.153-06:00Story Soundtrack - The Scene
It never occurred to me until someone pointed out in Passionate Ink that many of us, as writers, listen to music while writing. Those songs become the soundtracks to our stories and influence every aspect of the songs. For me, the song for my current story, tentatively entitled The Scene, is "Call Me When You’re Sober". In fact, it was a picture of the guy in this video inspired my hero, about six months before I actually saw the video. My character’s a vampire and this guy appears to be a werewolf, but I was psyched when I found it. Enjoy!

Angelahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07162939359152716512noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7137247175397253778.post-64469958870514981322008-02-09T12:58:00.000-06:002008-02-09T13:25:08.835-06:00Featured Author ~ Jeremy Edwards1. What is your name?

Jeremy Edwards.

2. What is your most recent published work's title and where can we find it?

In January, the latest edition of The Mammoth Book of Best New Erotica was released. This volume (number 7) contains my story "Mindy's Pheromones," and naturally I'm thrilled about that!

The Mammoth Book of Best New Erotica series is very well represented in bookstores, and it can be obtained from popular online vendors as well.

3. What is it about?

"Mindy's Pheromones" is a lighthearted (but duly explicit) story about a guy who succumbs to the primal attraction of a woman with whom he has nothing in common.

4. If you have a current project you're working on, can you share a little of it with us? Even just a
snippet?

I recently finished writing an erotic novel, and I'd love to share a brief excerpt:

Susan had stood up, and she and Normandie were facing each other, each with her left hand at the waist of the other's skirt, as if they were about to dance.

They were.

Without losing eye contact with her dancing partner, Normandie eased her right hand into the other woman's panties. Susan followed Normandie's lead, preserving the symmetry by reciprocating.

Now they began to turn, actually dancing around the living room, stepping to an unheard rhythm. Fingers dancing in each other's panties.

Jacob watched in awe.

The pair had his full and most intense attention, naturally, and he took in every detail of their interaction. The way Normandie subtly led the dance, though their motions were almost identical. The way Susan was making a soft, unbroken sound—a cross between a moan, a hum, and a hint of below-the-surface laughter. The way the circular motions of Normandie's hand in Susan's panties were clockwise, while Susan's reciprocal circles were counterclockwise.

Soon the twitching of their groins began to fight against the smooth, consistent motion of the dance. Spasmodic writhings broke in upon their display of poise—and ultimately tore it apart. The elegant, circular dance was derailed, superseded by the bawdy, jiggling partnership of two women fucking each other's cunts to juicy heaven with their fingers. They bobbed left and right, shuffling their weight and banging their asses against the air, each embodying an involuntary expression of her impending female explosion. Their bodies struggled to hoard the ecstasy as long as they could, until, together, they cried pleasure like two trumpets, pulling themselves together into a wet, vibrating black hole of orgasmic energy where their pussies and fingers all blurred together.

5. When and why did you begin writing?

One day I happened to look down, and I noticed that there was a pen in my hand! But seriously ... I've done various kinds of writing since I was a kid. It's always been a natural way for me to express myself and get creative. And somewhere along the line, I found myself doing it at a professional level. As for erotica in particular: I started reading a lot of erotica in the mid-90's, and I soon began writing my own. I loved the idea of being able to give myself erotic fiction that especially appealed to me; and, of course, I love writing. Writing erotica proved to be as much of a turn-on as reading it. But it was only a sporadic activity for me for about a decade, and what I wrote was mostly seen only by me. Then, a couple of years ago, I began to seriously pursue publication and write erotica—well—constantly.

6. What is your favorite subject to write about?

It's a toss-up between sexy stuff and funny stuff.

7. What do you find is the most surprising aspect of being a writer?

The way that exciting new ideas pop into your head and save the day, just when you feel you've run out of ideas FOREVER.

8. What do you find to be the most fun?

On a good day, the actual writing!

9. What other authors do you enjoy reading? Can you tell us why?

I feel very lucky to have been exposed to so many amazing erotica writers. I read for the arousing content and the sheer, awe-inspiring beauty of the way these gifted individuals put words to work. At this point my list of favorites is a long one (and constantly growing, the more I read)! I won't roll out the whole, wonderful laundry-list here … but you'll find most of these inspiring authors linked from my blogspot blog.

10. Before becoming a writer, what was your day job?

For most of my life, I've juggled writing and other creative endeavors with my day jobs. For example, I was in the retail book business for a long time. Currently, I divide my time between creative writing and other publishing-world activities.

11. If you had one thing that you'd take with you during a house fire or other emergency, other than people or pets, what would it be?

It would have to be my computer (or at least a thumb drive that has backups from the computer). I would hate to leave behind art, books, music, and (especially) all the memorabilia in our file cabinets … but the computer comprises the majority of the stuff that it's important to me to have access to.

12. It explores the duplicity of the life of a woman working in a sex shop.

5. When and why did you begin writing? I began writing when I was in college. I was frustrated with life and had just read Anais Nin. She inspired me to write. Later, I wrote in earnest to a lover. Thousands of words later and I had documented our affair. He encouraged me to write for myself, for profit and fun. So, a little over two years ago, I began writing for publications. I've had over two dozen stories published and will have the honor of being in the upcoming Best American Erotica 2008, edited by Susie Bright.

6. If you have a current project you're working on, can you share a little of it with us? Even just a snippet? More of the above. I feel pretty lucky to be able to write some more about these characters. A snippet? I am a terrible blurber but I'll give it a shot…

From "Intruder" by Sommer Marsden

Before I left the room, the phone had started again. I went down to the kitchen and looked in the freezer. Maybe we should go out. Maybe we should order in. I was deliberately not thinking about the phone call and the fact that it surely meant another case for the Seekers.

I heard Trip come in and I kept my head in the freezer like an ostrich hiding its head in the sand. "So, who was it?" I called in my fake peppy voice.

Trip's head appeared in the freezer next to mine. He looked strange. He wiggled the cell phone in my face and whispered, "I don't know. She won't tell me. She says she has to talk to you."

5. When and why did you begin writing? I was five-ish. I loved Winnie the Pooh, but I thought A. A. Milne missed a few things, so with the help of my crayons, I filled in the gaps he left in the stories. I started writing seriously in college. Then really seriously after the birth of my second child. That's when I started to put the time in to actually sell things. For money!

6. What is your favorite subject to write about? Really interesting, relateable characters. The topic doesn't matter so much to me as long as the characters really keep the reader reading.

7. What do you find is the most surprising aspect of being a writer? The amount of time you spend looking like you're doing *absolutely* nothing but are actually writing in your head. Or figuring something out. Or just trying to look smart and insightful (*laughing*)

8. What do you find to be the most fun? That ah-ha! Moment. I love that moment. Where something I've been turning over in my head (see 7) finally clicks and I go: ah-ha! And then after that it's all a blur.

9. What other authors do you enjoy reading? Can you tell us why? Hmm. I love so many writers. My MaryJanice Davidson books nestle on the shelf next to smut anthologies that feature writers I know and adore like P.S. Haven, Alison Tyler, Shanna Germain, Jeremy Edwards. There is a Carol Exline mystery next to Stephen King and Dean Koontz. And then a copy of Best Gay Erotica '07 that the talented Alana Noel Voth sent me that is mushed up against the J.R. Ward books. What makes them all favorites would be the fact that when I read their work, I forget I'm reading. I get lost in the tale being told. And that is always a gift. That opportunity to get lost.

10. Before becoming a writer, what was your day job? Lets' see. Day jobs included: Senior Admin Asst., bookseller, medical record file clerk, caterer, designer for a wallpaper store (designer was fancy word for 'I am paid to nod and say, yes that is lovely. I'm sure it will look great in your powder room/bedroom/living room/mud room/fill in blank')

11. If you had one thing that you'd take with you during a house fire or other emergency, other than people or pets, what would it be? My laptop. Unlike my predecessors on the subject, I would like to state that size does matter--but it's overrated.

Women do care about size, but not nearly as much as men do. Don't get me wrong, I can appreciate a little extra in that area as much as the next gal, but it's not more important than a good sense of adventure in my book.

Men generally think that they must compete with some imaginary penis that doesn't exist. Men really come with 15" or 16". If they did, most women wouldn't want them.

So, I decided to do a little research and found the following facts.

1-According to the famous Kinsey co-worker, Wardell B. Pomeroy, the longest they encountered was 10".

2- A carefully detailed study in 1970 found the largest erect to be 9 1/2".

3- Information such as L'Ethnologie du Sens Genitale, Everything You Always Wanted to Know About Sex, and other sources are suspected of having fudged information such as 12" and 14".

With just a few pieces of information, it's clear to see that things have gotten way out of hand. Men are worrying about size and spending billions on creams and pills that could be spent bringing their loved ones flowers, taking them to dinner, or planning a night to make them feel special.

To sum it all up...
Stop worrying about size. It's no different from women being told they have to look like porn stars. In reality, people have stretch marks, saggy boobs, and small penises. We've just got to forget that 2% of the population that looks like gods/goddesses and have fun!If men took half the energy they spend worrying about that and put it into worry about what their woman likes and needs (especially when she wont tell him), then it wouldn't matter if it was 5" or 12".Angelahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07162939359152716512noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7137247175397253778.post-53564610991237487802007-09-27T21:57:00.000-05:002007-09-27T21:58:50.007-05:00Quiz Fever Struck Again

You Should Be a Film Writer

You don't just create compelling stories, you see them as clearly as a movie in your mind.
You have a knack for details and dialogue.
