Johnny Depp...a vampire?

Okay, so my daughter pointed out to me that Depp was to portray a vampire in an upcoming movie. When I started researching, I found out that a deal has been made for him to star in a movie version of the classic Dark Shadows.

Of course, after watching so many of his movies, like Sweeny Todd, I realized that he definitely had a dark side. As it turns out, Depp is a vampire junkie on some level...or at least where Dark Shadows is concerned. In Variety, I found that "Depp has said in interviews that he has always been obsessed with 'Dark Shadows' and had, as a child, wanted to be Barnabas Collins, the vampire patriarch of the series."

Well, welcome to my list of favorite actors, Depp. The character Jack Sparrow is one of my favorites, but somehow knowing that we share an interest in Dark Shadows makes me like the actor even more. Here's to hoping that the vampire role is NOT shown as a dorky fanged freak. I have no doubt that Depp could pull it off, but I'm not sure about the rest of the movie crew. Either way, I'll be first in line to see this movie when it hits the theater! And, somehow I see a new vampire character in one of my books who looks similar to Johnny Depp in the near future.

Ghost Hunting

I know this is probably a silly thing to some. My writing sisters and brothers will understand, though.I've made a contact who has the fascinating hobby.
She is a paranormal investigator who is part of a larger group with a well known television show. When she agreed to be my consultant on an upcoming book series, I literally did the Snoopy dance at my desk. I love the work they do, but I'm too chicken to do it myself. I've had experiences with malevolent spirits and I want nothing to do with them again. If that means staying completely away from paranormal investigation, that's fine by me. However, I'm writing a story about a girl that is a ghost hunter. So, I have to know something about it. Right?
Anyway, I won't give out the details because I think that would be kind of rude at this point. I just had to blog about it.

P.S. I Love You, Too!

I'm a sucker for a man with a sense of humor and a Scottish accent. In what may be my new favorite movie, the endearing Gerry, played by Gerard Butler, does this amazing, light hearted strip tease for his wife, Holly. (see clip at this link)

http://www.imdb.com/video/screenplay/vi2056978713/

This isn't a new concept, I know, but it was still the perfect beginning to the movie, P.S. I Love You, which was the best romantic movie I've seen since The Notebook. The character Gerry won my heart in two scenes flat. I hope I can create characters this great!

Plus, the friends remind me of my two best friends. Lisa Kudrow and Gina Gershon were great. In fact, the character Holly, played by Hilary Swank, was someone I can completely relate to on many levels. I was engrossed in the movie. Honestly, I don't cry at movies often, but this one made me cry and laugh—and then cry while laughing, which I wasn't exactly sure was possible until last night.

I don't want to give anything away, so I'll shut up soon. I just really can't say enough great things about it. If you're into romantic comedies, you can't miss this one! It's going in my video library.
